Yup, you heard that right. The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro revealed on the One Ring message boards that he will be playing one of the creatures in the movie. He says, "I had a hand on the design of the creature and I will personally sculpt the appliances that will be applied on my face and hands. I used to sculpt the creatures for NECROPIA (my FX company) and I miss it a bit. I will have a line or two and die quickly."
In another interview with Total Film, del Toro described the film's monsters as being "absolutely gorgeous" and "majestic". Recently Viggo Mortensen was asked whether he'd be interested in returning to the franchise, and while he'd love a chance to do that, he admitted that there's no place for Aragorn in any Hobbit adaptation – and in order for that character to appear in another LotR film, it would have to be one that acted as a bridge between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
